Feeding program at Squatters Hill Slum
When the government closed all the schools because of the pandemic, we knew that our students and the other children in Squatters Hill slum were going hungry. Before the coronavirus, they relied on the daily meals we provided daily at the school--often the only food they had all day.
Sam Mwaura (one of our key employees) met with government officials and completed all the necessary paperwork to create a feeding program to address the need.
Although schools were closed throughout the country, Kenya Partners received permission for the Betty Mavity Roberts Education Centre to be designated as a rescue centre for our students who had no safe place to go.
Their commitment to the children drives all of our dedicated staff to go the extra mile. Some staff members are living on campus to provide the critical "family" environment that the children need.
Others commute daily to perform all the necessary tasks to keep the school running–such as pumping water from our well and working on the farm.

Wesley Mission Hospital is feeling the strain as well.
The cost of personal protective equipment has doubled. Many patients lack the funds to pay even the small amounts usually charged.
But no sick patient is turned away - that is our policy.
